PDF to PNG for macOS

A browser-based PDF to PNG workflow for Mac

macOS Preview can export a single PDF page as PNG, but it is slow for multi-page documents. RasterMint gives Mac users a browser-based workflow for page preview, DPI selection, and ZIP download.

Works in Safari, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on macOS.
No desktop app or account required.
Faster than exporting pages one by one in Preview.
Keeps PDF conversion local to your browser.

RasterMint vs macOS Preview

Preview is convenient for one page. RasterMint is better when you need every page as a PNG, want a ZIP download, or want to choose between 72, 150, and 300 DPI output before converting.

Preview also requires you to open the PDF, navigate to each page, and export individually. RasterMint converts all pages in a single pass and presents them in a preview grid.

Best settings on Mac

Use 150 DPI for slides, reports, email, and web sharing. Choose 300 DPI for print-quality output. Use 72 DPI when you need smaller preview images.

How to convert PDF to PNG on Mac step by step

Step 1: Open Safari, Chrome, or any modern browser on your Mac and go to the RasterMint converter page.

Step 2: Drag and drop your PDF file onto the converter, or click to browse and select a file from Finder.

Step 3: Choose a DPI quality setting. 150 DPI works well for most Mac workflows.

Step 4: Click Convert. Each page is rendered in your browser with no upload.

Step 5: Preview the pages, then download individual PNGs or click ZIP to get all pages at once.

Supported Mac browsers

RasterMint works in Safari 15+, Chrome 90+, Firefox 90+, and Edge 90+ on macOS. The conversion engine uses Web Workers and the Canvas API, which are supported in all of these browsers.

Safari on macOS Sonoma and later handles PDF rendering especially well. If you experience issues with a particular browser, try Chrome as an alternative.
