How to convert PDF to PNG

Select a PDF, choose a DPI setting, and click convert. RasterMint renders each page with PDF.js in your browser and exports the result as a PNG image.

For most documents, 150 DPI is the best balance between readability and file size. Use 300 DPI when you need print-quality output.

When to use PNG

PNG is a strong format for document pages because it is lossless. Text, charts, forms, screenshots, and line art stay sharper than heavily compressed image formats.

  • Share a PDF flyer or report page as an image.
  • Extract charts, forms, invoices, or slides from a PDF.
  • Create previews for documents without uploading private files.
  • Export all pages from a multi-page PDF as separate PNG files.

Why browser-based conversion is safer

Most online PDF to PNG converters require you to upload your file to a remote server. The server processes the file, generates images, and sends them back. During this process, your document exists on someone else's infrastructure.

RasterMint eliminates this step entirely. Your PDF is read by your browser's File API, rendered to a canvas with PDF.js, and exported as PNG. Nothing is transmitted over the network. You can verify this by opening your browser's developer tools and checking the Network tab during conversion.

Supported platforms and browsers

RasterMint works on any modern browser that supports the Canvas API and Web Workers. This includes Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop, as well as mobile Safari on iPhone and iPad, Chrome on Android, and Samsung Internet.

There is nothing to install, sign up for, or configure. Open the page, select a PDF, and start converting. The tool handles single-page and multi-page PDFs with the same workflow.
